Refugee Welcome Programme

If you’re a refugee or seeking asylum in Salford, there’s support available to help you settle, live well and move forward.

The Refugee Welcome Programme aims to prevent homelessness and support people transitioning out of the asylum system. In Salford, we’re working with local partners to make sure you can access the help you need. This could be support with finding somewhere safe to live, learn or improve your English language skills, or transition into work.

Learn English

Build your confidence and language skills by joining free ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes and friendly conversation groups. These are open to all levels and designed to help you feel more at home in your community. Find out more about ESOL in Salford.

Employment support

The Salford Employment Hub can help you explore training, volunteering and work experience opportunities. You may just be starting out or already be prepared to apply for jobs, either way, you will be supported every step of the way.

Housing advice

We know that finding somewhere safe and stable to live is a priority. Salford Housing Options and Salford Loaves and Fishes offer advice and support if you’re homeless or at risk of homelessness. We also work closely with organisations to help people access accommodation, understand their rights, and get back on their feet. If you have had a positive decision on an asylum application, find out what to do next by visiting this helpful webpage.
