WorkWell in Salford
WorkWell supports people with health conditions and disabilities to start, stay or succeed in work. Our experienced team can advise on a range of support options which best reflect your individual needs and circumstances to help address your physical health, mental health, wellbeing and social needs to help you return to and/or thrive in work.
We can help you with:
- one‑to‑one support from a dedicated Work and Health Coach
- managing your physical health, mental health, or neurodivergent needs at work
- workplace adjustments and reasonable adjustments
- any support you need while waiting for NHS treatment or recovering from illness
- remaining in work, returning after sickness absence, or preventing burnout
- access to local health, wellbeing, and employment support, including:
- musculoskeletal (MSK) assessments and treatment for conditions which affect all areas of the body (spine, arms, legs, hands, and feet)
- person-centred counselling for a range of conditions, including depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship problems, stress, bereavement, and loss
- impartial careers information, advice, and guidance covering employment, skills, and training (including help to find a new job and progress in work)
- non-medical wellbeing support, services, and activities such as volunteering, arts, group learning, gardening, befriending, cookery, healthy eating advice, and a range of sports
- advocacy to help employers understand and accommodate your individual needs and circumstances, such as advice on how to provide workplace adjustments (employers will only be contacted with your permission)
Coaching and support
Each individual participating in WorkWell receives tailored support and one-to-one appointments with a dedicated Health and Work Coach. A range of practical support options will be discussed and agreed to best reflect individual need, challenges, and circumstances. Participants will typically have up to six appointments with their Coach. These will be at a time and frequency agreed with the participant.
Am I eligible for WorkWell?
To be eligible, you will need to:
- have the right to work in the UK
- have the right to public funds
- be aged 16 or over
- have a health and/or disability-related barrier to work
- be likely to benefit from health and/or employment-related advice and support
- live or work in Salford (have a home address in Salford or a Greater Manchester home address if working in Salford), or have a Greater Manchester home address with a GP and/or Jobcentre Plus address in Salford
- be employed (including self-employed) and struggling to retain or return to work due to a health condition and/or disability, or be unemployed (for less than 2 years) and struggling to start work due to a health condition and/or disability
How do I find out more?
If you would like to make an initial enquiry or find out more about WorkWell, please email [email protected] or telephone 0800 952 1000 (option 2). You can self-refer or can be referred by local agencies and professionals.
Once a referral is received, it will be assessed by the team. Individuals will be contacted by a member of the WorkWell team within two working days, and if eligible for support, an initial appointment will be arranged with a designated Work and Health Coach. This can be either at a community venue or virtually at the convenience of the participant within ten working days on receipt of an eligible referral.
WorkWell is now offering mobile sessions!

WorkWell mobile session in our van are now taking place across Salford, providing free, confidential support and bringing health and employment advice directly to your community.
This drop‑in sessions offer one‑to‑one support with a Work and Health Coach around staying in or returning to work, managing physical or mental health challenges, workplace adjustments, and accessing wider wellbeing and employment support.
