Employer lunch and learn: The hidden impact of diabetes

Learn how diabetes affects workplace wellbeing and discover practical ways to support early detection, prevention and staff health.

Around 12 million adults in the UK are living with diabetes or prediabetes, including 1.3 million people who are undiagnosed.

Diabetes is a major driver of sickness absence, reduced productivity and early retirement, and is linked to higher rates of workplace accidents and mental health challenges. The condition contributes over £10 billion a year in direct and indirect economic costs across the UK, with the greatest impact seen when diabetes is poorly controlled or complications develop.

Linked to World Diabetes Day (Saturday 14 November 2026), this lunch and learn session will focus on early screening, reducing risk, and supporting staff to manage diabetes effectively, helping prevent complications and maintain attendance.

Date: Wednesday 11 November
Time: 12.30pm to 1pm (online - Microsoft Teams)
