Connect with young people in Salford

Salford is working to become a Child Friendly City, and local employers play a vital role in helping young people thrive. By partnering with schools and colleges, you can inspire the next generation, build a strong talent pipeline, and make a real difference in your community.

By getting involved, you will:

  • help young people develop skills and confidence
  • spot emerging talent early
  • strengthen your community links and deliver on corporate social responsibility
  • improve staff engagement through volunteering

Research shows that students with four or more meaningful encounters with employers are less likely to become NEET and earn a higher salary on average.

Ways you can support include:

  • workplace experiences, part-time roles and placements to give students real-world insight
  • employer encounters such as delivering talks, workshops, or mentoring sessions
  • curriculum connections and bringing learning to life through live briefs or co-delivered lessons
  • targeted support to help care leavers, SEND students, or those at risk of becoming NEET
  • strategic roles such as becoming a school governor or Enterprise Adviser
